Developing Spiritual Intimacy with Your Spouse

When was the last time you prayed with your spouse? Even though Hillary and I went to a Christian college and I was in seminary to be a pastor, our first time praying together was awkward. We had our own devotional life with the Lord but for some reason it was hard to come together and develop our spiritual intimacy as a couple.

As we invest in our daughters’ spiritual growth, we are aware that the journey must start with us. If we are not honest about our own walks with the Lord and are not praying together as a couple, we won’t have much to give our kids.

One of the books that has helped us grow in our spiritual intimacy is Jim Burns’ Creating an Intimate MarriageHere is an excerpt from the book. Start small and stick with your plan even when it is awkward at first. Watch what God will do in your marriage and in your family life as you seek Him first.
